A team of scientists and managers from ICIMOD (International Center for Integrated Mountain Development) Nepal visited GLP Beijing Nodal Office and held a workshop with scientists from CAS, exchanging research outcomes and exploring the potential collaborative opportunities during May 14-15

Submission of abstracts for participating in the international workshop on ¡°The Vulnerability and Resilience of Land Systems in Asia¡± is closed on April 30 and about 100 abstracts have been received.

Dr. Ademola Braimoh, the Executive Director of GLP Sapporo Nodal Office and a Professor of Hokkaido University of Japan£¬ visited GLP Beijing Nodal Office from 9-15 April, discussing the venue, selection of abstracts and the detailed program for holding the international workshop on ¡°The Vulnerability and Resilience of Land Systems in Asia¡± in Beijing June 15-17.

Dr. Lin Zhen, the Deputy Director of Beijing Nodal Office, received funding from MOST (Ministry of Science and Technology, China) for a three-year (2009.4-2012.4) collaborative project with German scientists on ¡°Spatial diversity of land-use functions of China and development of a decision making system for sustainable land use¡±.

Dr. Ademola Braimoh, the Executive Director of GLP Sapporo Nodal Office and a Professor of Hokkaido University of Japan presented a lecture on ¡°Research on the vulnerability of land systems within the framework of GLP¡± on April 14, 2009.

Prof. Gary Brierley of the University of Auckland, New Zealand visited GLP Beijing Nodal Office and presented a lecture on ¡°Don¡¯t fight the site: Three geomorphic considerations in catchment-scale river rehabilitation planning¡± on March 13, 2009;

Prof. He-Qing Huang visited the University of Auckland, New Zealand with scientists from Tsinghua University, China University of Geosciences (Beijing) and Qinghai University from Feb. 17-20, discussing the details forlaunching an internationally collaborative project on the study of high-land river characteristics and ecosystem changes in the Sanjiangyuan region (the headwater area of the Yangtze River, the Yellow River and the Lancang River) of China.

Drs. Lin Zhen and Luguang Jiang represented Beijing Nodal Office at the Ecosystem Services Management in Asia Working Group Meeting organized by Sapporo Nodal Office at Hokkaido University, Japan, from July 1-2, 2008.

Profs.Jiyuan Liu and He-Qing Huang represented Beijing Nodal Office at the 4th IGBP Congress from 5-9 May 2008 at Cape Town, South Africa, and presented five posters to introduce projects that Beijing Nodal Office has been co-ordinating.
